This is a custom version of my small forest axe. It has the same 4140 steel head weighing about 2 pounds with a Rockwell hardness of about 55. The difference is this one has a premium 21” hickory handle that’s been burned to a dark brown almost black. The extra handle makes this ax capable of heavier work but still easier to pack around.
